Welcom, in his home state of Massachusetts. In January of 2000, Welcome Funds Inc. incorporated in the state of Florida, and moved its headquarters to Boca Raton.

John M. Welcom, Founder, President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

John has an extensive background in the Life Insurance Settlement Industry dating back to 1990. He began his career at a law firm in Miami, FL while attending college and was responsible for overseeing the escrow accounts, which serviced the very first companies to transact business in the industry. In 1993, he graduated from the University of Miami (FL) with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Upon graduation, John decided to apply his skills on behalf of terminally ill policy owners and returned home to Massachusetts to begin work as an independent settlement broker. In 1998, after five years as an independent broker, he formed Welcome Funds Inc. In 2000, he decided to move the company to Florida in order to capitalize on the new market trend toward “senior settlement” transactions. The company was then incorporated and headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida.

In 2005, John was accepted as the first life settlement council member for the Gerson Lehrman Group Councils (www.thecouncils.com), which encompasses a global network of professionals who deliver expertise and decision-making assistance to business, government and investment leaders around the world.

He is also a licensed life agent in many states, including his home state of Florida, and is a registered representative holding the Series 6, 26 and 63 licenses.

Daniel Ohman, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Dan has served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Welcome Funds Inc. since 2000. His primary responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of relationships with life settlement providers, oversight of the underwriting, negotiations and transactional closing processes and human resources. Dan is also responsible for the company’s licensing and regulatory compliance with state and federal laws which govern the life and viatical settlement industry.

Prior to joining Welcome Funds Inc., Dan served as a Business Analyst and Operations Manager at the Walt Disney World Company. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1995 and his Master’s in Business Administration in 1997 with a concentration in Finance and Strategic Management, both from the University of Miami. In 1995, Dan was a Series 7 and 63 registered stock broker with Olde Discount Corporation in West Palm Beach, FL. He currently holds life or producer licenses in forty six (46) states. Mr. Ohman is also a registered representative of the NASD and currently holds the Series 6, 26 & 63 licenses.

Jared M. Smith, Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Jared currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Welcome Funds Inc., where he is responsible for the oversight of all financial matters including financial and reporting compliance, financial analysis and other reporting and controls as well as project management, research, strategic planning and development and marketing.

Prior to Joining the company in 2006, Jared served as the Director of Planning and Strategic Development for Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he was responsible for leading the Medical Center’s overall program and growth initiatives, including oversight and management of business planning and development, marketing, public relations and government relations. Previously, from 2002 to 2005, he had been the Director of Project Management for Mount Sinai Medical Center and was responsible for leading a $65 million turnaround plan.

From 1995 to 2002, Jared served in a number of various roles at Deloitte & Touche, including Manager, Enterprise Risk Services and Senior Accountant in Deloitte’s Audit and Advisory Practice. At Deloitte, he was entrusted with resolving legal, regulatory, and accounting issues that arose during audit engagements. He was also responsible for the review and audit of accounting and internal controls procedures and financial statement disclosure.

Jared is Certified Public Accountant (since 1996), regulated by the State of Florida. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami in 1994 and his Master’s of Science in Taxation from the University of Miami in 1995. Mr. Smith is a registered representative of the NASD and holds both the Series 6 and 28 licenses.
